I have just received an email informing me of the existence of a research programme at Stanford University on liberation technology and I thought I’d share this information with you.
The programme ”seeks to understand how (and to what extent) various information technologies and their applications -including mobile phones, text messaging (SMS), the Internet, blogging, GPS, and other forms of digital technology – are enabling citizens to advance freedom, development, social justice, and the rule of law”.
Some of the presentations given at the seminars, which were organised by the programme, are available online. More details can be obtained here.
